The brokerage, the bank, the bus line, interview time and then Ralphs!

 Something was wrong - we should have had $$$ in our Schwab brokerage account only we couldn't find it in their online paperwork.  Thus, this morning I went first to Schwab, to find out there was a communications matter that should have been sent to me a few days back - only it never came.......regardless, matters taken care of at brokerage.

Then to the bank where caution was in vogue as the bank declined a credit card payment for hotel reservations in Tokyo at the end of May rather than approve something that should not have been.......they even tried to call me.  Alas, I never answer the phone.......regardless, both the card situation and the brokerage money transfer went through (I think) after my meeting at the bank after my meeting at the brokerage.......and since I got back on the Big Blue Bus within the 'grace period', I only paid a senior citizens discount fare for one way....

And then we went for our respective interviews with the head of the volunteer program at St John's Hospital.  Hey, we're no longer working and while school takes up time, it certainly ain't all the time or even close to it........we both have 'taken' to so much at that hospital......so we will each be doing some work there.......but first we have to go through blood tests as replacement for not having vaccine records (Katherine's from China and mine going back over 3/4 of a century).

And after lunch (bar b que beef ribs and chicken) at St Johns, we went to Ralph's where each of us were stopped by the respective Ralph's employees we work with - they all commented that it has been a while since the two of us were there together.....

Watching Freddie

 I started early today and while I anticipated a light day, it was 'more involved' than I anticipated.  John Achorn acted his way through chapters 19-22 of Huck Finn.  We discussed the LA Times sponsored Festival of Books at which Percival Everett, author of James, spoke.  For Summer session (8 weeks), we are going to read Raymond Carver short stories.  We were also asked for our input regarding choice of authors for the Fall semester. I got home just as Freddie's class began.  The legions of women watercolor painters who simply adore Freddie Manseau makes his Zoom class quite entertaining.  Freddie is a true character - the extent to which he plays up on this to keep his classes large is open to conjecture but regardless, I am enjoying painting! Opera competition audio/Miami-Washington in right hand corner thumbnail/this blog on the remainder of the screen

 My radio station of choice is WQXR and on this Saturday morning, the Metropolitan Opera's annual competition is on, live from the Met - nothing but popular arias for the next 90 minutes.....I like that! I do not get either Dodger or Angel games - local black outs apply....but I get the other 28 MLB teams and games - this is the best at 10:21am in L.A, And obviously, I am writing now.....! Last night, finally, I went to the Broad Stage for an evening performance:  the Spring Recital of the vocal classes at Santa Monica College.  This was held, not in the Broad Stage building but the classroom building next door where there was a small (250 seats??) theatre in which a 'graduation' gig, similar to the one I did for stand-up at the Improv, at which 21 performers, ranging in age from 18-19 year-olds through a few who definitely were in theur 60s, did their thing.  Community education here offers one the opportunity to get involved in ways I never anticipated prior to com...
