Tranquility afternoons.........

 I've been reading - with emotion - my Improv script between 2 - 4 times a day, every day, for the past 2 weeks +.  Yet it is my afternoon walks where the frequency of my reading repetitions tests the recall I will need for Saturday's performance.  I walk a long walk - as do many others I seem to be passing more and more.  They talk aloud.  I talk silently, trying to recall my repetitions.  So far....so good.....yesterday, right after, I looked at the script and I only missed one tag.......I'll get it all right by show time........and if not, I'll just have to fake it while on stage.........

What will I be thinking during my afternoon walks after Saturday's show? I do know that Leica has upgraded its Leica Lux app that I have on my iPhone.....and that my Leica CL batteries are fully charged and the camera is ready to take with me on a photo shoot at any time.   I also have both a pen/pencil sketch pad and a watercolor paint sketch pad......3  art pens and my Faber-Castell pencil......the goal for me, now, is to start early morning walks, draw and take pictures - both around the Imperial Palace and the environs.......can I find the barber shop I used to go to (is it still there if I can find the road it was on....) for a hair cut and shave?  what will I think as I walk streets I walked 13 years ago, covering this same route?  AND......after my afternoon nap, is there anything I've drawn that I want to 'enhance' with watercolor paints?

Regardless, I am ready for the show (but will still rehearse while walking both today and tomorrow and will be ready to fly across the Pacific to be with Joanna, Ziwei and Mio on Monday morning!!!!!

Watching Freddie

 I started early today and while I anticipated a light day, it was 'more involved' than I anticipated.  John Achorn acted his way through chapters 19-22 of Huck Finn.  We discussed the LA Times sponsored Festival of Books at which Percival Everett, author of James, spoke.  For Summer session (8 weeks), we are going to read Raymond Carver short stories.  We were also asked for our input regarding choice of authors for the Fall semester. I got home just as Freddie's class began.  The legions of women watercolor painters who simply adore Freddie Manseau makes his Zoom class quite entertaining.  Freddie is a true character - the extent to which he plays up on this to keep his classes large is open to conjecture but regardless, I am enjoying painting! Opera competition audio/Miami-Washington in right hand corner thumbnail/this blog on the remainder of the screen

 My radio station of choice is WQXR and on this Saturday morning, the Metropolitan Opera's annual competition is on, live from the Met - nothing but popular arias for the next 90 minutes.....I like that! I do not get either Dodger or Angel games - local black outs apply....but I get the other 28 MLB teams and games - this is the best at 10:21am in L.A, And obviously, I am writing now.....! Last night, finally, I went to the Broad Stage for an evening performance:  the Spring Recital of the vocal classes at Santa Monica College.  This was held, not in the Broad Stage building but the classroom building next door where there was a small (250 seats??) theatre in which a 'graduation' gig, similar to the one I did for stand-up at the Improv, at which 21 performers, ranging in age from 18-19 year-olds through a few who definitely were in theur 60s, did their thing.  Community education here offers one the opportunity to get involved in ways I never anticipated prior to com...
