Thursday routines - now and soon........
Monday is catch-up day, doing the things I put off from Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is also the time I do the reading I didn't do for my classes this week.......and, hopefully, getting late lunch and dinner from our local taco truck.
Tuesdays are two classes: John Achorn's American Novel and Freddie Manseau's watercolor painting. The American Novel is 'hybrid' and it is simply too convenient to take the Big Blue Bus to downtown Santa Monica and then walk to the Emeritus Building on Second Street, just south of Wilshire Blvd where 10-15 of us are there, live, for John's dramatization of what we've read and 'partially' understood. There are approximately 70 more watching Zoom. Given the option, I'll go to a live class whenever I can!
More of John on Wednesdays as he teaches a somewhat smaller hybrid History of Comedy class. This semester he's concentrating upon the 60s and 70s. We started out the first class watching the 1964 slapstick comedy hit A Shot in the Dark, the second of the Pink Panther series and, subjectively, the best of the lot. I really liked this one. The other Peter Sellers film that I loved: The Party - Sellers' version of Jacques Tati's Mr. Hulot....... Only one class on Wednesday.......perhaps going to the movies on Wednesday afternoons, with senior citizen discounts will be part of that day's routine?
Today is Thursday and it felt good to sleep in a bit later this morning, followed by a pleasant, early morning walk, going just under 2,700 steps this morning. Today??? But tonight!!! I go through my final 'tutorial' Sweet Dreams session at St Johns Hospital tonight......and then, next week, I will help start a Sweet Dreams program for orthopedics at the hospital. I am happy doing some volunteer work - and recognize that my having been a St Johns hospital patient does make a difference - that and being an old fart of hospital patient age........
And for Thursdays, when I can, I will Zoom Margaret Ross's Fix It class on home repairs. She does the class from Portland, Oregon and while I doubt I am going to do any of the stuff she goes through, it is worthwhile to have an idea what the solutions to potential problems may be......
That's it for today.....onwards to a Friday routine!
