Mid-afternoon, Sunday.....

I took the Metro #4 bus to LaPeer in West Hollywood.  Then I walked to Robertson and down two long main blocks - Melrose Avenue and after, Beverly Blvd where, a brief right turn got me to the one Leica Store in Los Angeles County.  I got there around 12:20pm and found I was the first customer/client at the store (which opened at noon) today.

Yesterday I found a great 'how to' video for the Leica Lux Grip, made by Leica Australia.  Alas, they omitted one absolutely essential instruction:  charge the unit before anything else, otherwise you will never get the flashing blue light on the bottom of the unit when you press the top buttons as per instructions.  All one would get is a flashing red light and inability to first, pair; and after, the inability to do anything else.

Do I remember much from the hour+ I spent at the Leica Store today?  Sadly, no.  But I now (I think) have a program to work towards this coming week:  I will carry the unit with me all week - in back pack as  it is a tad bit too large for one of my pockets.....even before using the unit, for the first couple of days, I will take pictures ONLY using Lux - not the grip - on the iPhone.....then, having (hopefully) a better grasp of what the software on the iPhone can do, I will start 'experimenting' with the Grip.  What will be the result?  Only time can tell........LL  2:52pm  7 Dec 25     Santa Monica, CA

7 Baseball

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. My life is intertwined with baseball tying so much more than the game into it.  Yeah, 'Baseball is Life'.........I wish I still had that T shirt!  I have been on a baseball odyssey from sometime in September, 1944 when my mother and her sisters Sarah and Faye  and 4 cousins attended Ladies Day at Ebbetts Field where the St Louis Cardinals beat the Brooklyn Dodgers.   Of course I don't remember it!  But it is what I do remember from 18 September 1947 on - far more than just the Dodgers and World Series matters.  I have h...

Watching Freddie

 I started early today and while I anticipated a light day, it was 'more involved' than I anticipated.  John Achorn acted his way through chapters 19-22 of Huck Finn.  We discussed the LA Times sponsored Festival of Books at which Percival Everett, author of James, spoke.  For Summer session (8 weeks), we are going to read Raymond Carver short stories.  We were also asked for our input regarding choice of authors for the Fall semester. I got home just as Freddie's class began.  The legions of women watercolor painters who simply adore Freddie Manseau makes his Zoom class quite entertaining.  Freddie is a true character - the extent to which he plays up on this to keep his classes large is open to conjecture but regardless, I am enjoying painting!
