Mid-morning Sunday.......

 One degree C in the morning make a big.....very bit....difference.  It was that much warmer this morning and wow, how much nicer it was to pedal by the beach.  It was sunny out by the beah this morning and 'my bench' by the ocean was wondrously vacant today so I rode along the beach walk, sat, toked and enjoyed my morning of solitude, continuing along the bike path to Washington Blvd where I circled back along Pacific Ave to Windward, making a right and going through the Circle to Main Street where I rode back into downtown Santa Monica, making a right on Arizona, heading home.

The true technophobe that I am - I could not pair my Leica Lux Grip with my iPhone.  I called the one Leica Store in L.A., located in West Hollywood, a #4 Metro ride for me - it is now 10:45am and within the next half hour, I will depart for West Hollywood for the Leica Store and 'one-on-one' instruction for the Grip......and I will inquire about selling my M-10, a wonderful piece of equipment that now, with macular degeneration, makes that rangefinder a bit more difficult to use in a camera body that is too heavy, now, to schlep around all the time.....such is life......

......and that leaves a couple of additional cameras that I will write about....but not today....I'm glad I wrote something, albeit not much, rather than nothing at all......tune in tomorrow for more.....

7 Baseball

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. My life is intertwined with baseball tying so much more than the game into it.  Yeah, 'Baseball is Life'.........I wish I still had that T shirt!  I have been on a baseball odyssey from sometime in September, 1944 when my mother and her sisters Sarah and Faye  and 4 cousins attended Ladies Day at Ebbetts Field where the St Louis Cardinals beat the Brooklyn Dodgers.   Of course I don't remember it!  But it is what I do remember from 18 September 1947 on - far more than just the Dodgers and World Series matters.  I have h...

Watching Freddie

 I started early today and while I anticipated a light day, it was 'more involved' than I anticipated.  John Achorn acted his way through chapters 19-22 of Huck Finn.  We discussed the LA Times sponsored Festival of Books at which Percival Everett, author of James, spoke.  For Summer session (8 weeks), we are going to read Raymond Carver short stories.  We were also asked for our input regarding choice of authors for the Fall semester. I got home just as Freddie's class began.  The legions of women watercolor painters who simply adore Freddie Manseau makes his Zoom class quite entertaining.  Freddie is a true character - the extent to which he plays up on this to keep his classes large is open to conjecture but regardless, I am enjoying painting!
