Winter-like weather every morning

 Around 8am this morning, the temperature outside, as per my iPhone, was sunny and 8 degrees C.  Too fucking cold for most but like the cheerful idiot I may very well be, I was out on my bicycle, wearing 2 short sleeve bike shirts - one to start out immediately after my white, thermal, long sleeve undershirt and one after 3 long sleeve bike shirts.......and amazingly, 5 was enough - it was nice from here to the beach where there was virtually no one else out to ride.

Including1000 mg of calcium and fish oil (4 pills), I am taking a total of 13 pills a day at 8 different times during the day.......and I finally know which pills are which and when I have to take them......it could be a whole lot worse.

What prompted me to check spam today is beyond me - I very rarely do look at spam or trash. But I looked and I found the authorization for me to return the defective Rollei35AF.  I look forward to Mint-HK sending me a replacement film camera - one that works!!  True, I love my two Leicas but the better one, the M-10, along with various and sundry accessories, is going to be sold - hey, with inherited macular degeneration, that rangefinder is increasingly difficult to accurately focus......and that camera, regardless of lens, is too fucking heavy to schlep around as much as I would like.  Such is life.....

On the other hand, my Leica CL, with 35mm lens, can be, has been and will continue to be used as my urban photography photoshoot main camera.  My Rollei35af, when I get it replaced, is my # 2 camera - light and compact enough that I can theoretically carry it with me all the time (either in pocket or backpack).  All it too were two partial rolls of film to recall how easy it was (with frequent practice) to 'predict' what either the photo meter app on the iPhone or the autofocus on the Rollei will show.....and to override the autofocus as I become more familiar with this camera and film photography, once again.  Patience and Patience and Patience!!!!!  Learn and acclimate both to film photography and having to wait for the pictures after processing.........I did it for years......I an do it again along with posting pictures and comments in my 'developing', multi-media sketch/comment/essay book with pictures (Rollei and Instax).

There are three more cameras in my life - my iPhone Pro Max 14 (with and without the Leica Lux Grip that I have ordered), my Fujifilm Instax Evo that is a hybrid digital camera with print capabilities; and my little Kodak PixPro CL that I use for pictures that I sketch from......next time for these

7 Baseball

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. My life is intertwined with baseball tying so much more than the game into it.  Yeah, 'Baseball is Life'.........I wish I still had that T shirt!  I have been on a baseball odyssey from sometime in September, 1944 when my mother and her sisters Sarah and Faye  and 4 cousins attended Ladies Day at Ebbetts Field where the St Louis Cardinals beat the Brooklyn Dodgers.   Of course I don't remember it!  But it is what I do remember from 18 September 1947 on - far more than just the Dodgers and World Series matters.  I have h...

Watching Freddie

 I started early today and while I anticipated a light day, it was 'more involved' than I anticipated.  John Achorn acted his way through chapters 19-22 of Huck Finn.  We discussed the LA Times sponsored Festival of Books at which Percival Everett, author of James, spoke.  For Summer session (8 weeks), we are going to read Raymond Carver short stories.  We were also asked for our input regarding choice of authors for the Fall semester. I got home just as Freddie's class began.  The legions of women watercolor painters who simply adore Freddie Manseau makes his Zoom class quite entertaining.  Freddie is a true character - the extent to which he plays up on this to keep his classes large is open to conjecture but regardless, I am enjoying painting!
