A Grand Re-Opening tomorrow!

 While it's been a soft opening over the past couple of weeks, tomorrow will be the formal grand re-opening of our local McDonalds.  

The first 100 customers at the 8am opening will receive an egg mcmuffin monthly over the next year.  Will there be anyone out at 8am tomorrow morning?   Perhaps I will be there - it is an opportunity for a photoshoot!

I received notification this morning that my Rollei 35AF is being returned after repair from Hong Kong.  My four 'working' cameras:  Leica CL - while I have additional lenses for this one, the 23mm lens works fine for both point and shoot usage or adjusting per the picture as desired/necessary;  The Rollei 35AF - will be the film camera I can carry with me to selectively shot film as I find I am comfortable with a routine I hope to develop;  Kodak PixPal C - hey, it fits in my pocket and I'd specifically use this one to catch the picture I will eventually paint;  Leica Lux app with Leica Grip on my iPhone - where I primarily will use the choice of a wide angle lens and b&w photography.   Learning the cameras and their respective apps and upgrades and going on regular photoshoots are a routine activity I look forward to working on!

This is winter?  at 12:10pm on Friday, 16 Jan 26, it is 23 C (76 F) outside.  I shed my sweater and am wearing a long sleeve silk shirt over a thermal undershirt - I walked to Trader Joe's , comfortaby dressed like this......and thus far this morning, biking and walking, I've done 3,452steps thus far, today......and will definitely do an afternoon walk!

7 Baseball

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. My life is intertwined with baseball tying so much more than the game into it.  Yeah, 'Baseball is Life'.........I wish I still had that T shirt!  I have been on a baseball odyssey from sometime in September, 1944 when my mother and her sisters Sarah and Faye  and 4 cousins attended Ladies Day at Ebbetts Field where the St Louis Cardinals beat the Brooklyn Dodgers.   Of course I don't remember it!  But it is what I do remember from 18 September 1947 on - far more than just the Dodgers and World Series matters.  I have h...

Watching Freddie

 I started early today and while I anticipated a light day, it was 'more involved' than I anticipated.  John Achorn acted his way through chapters 19-22 of Huck Finn.  We discussed the LA Times sponsored Festival of Books at which Percival Everett, author of James, spoke.  For Summer session (8 weeks), we are going to read Raymond Carver short stories.  We were also asked for our input regarding choice of authors for the Fall semester. I got home just as Freddie's class began.  The legions of women watercolor painters who simply adore Freddie Manseau makes his Zoom class quite entertaining.  Freddie is a true character - the extent to which he plays up on this to keep his classes large is open to conjecture but regardless, I am enjoying painting!
