a cold day in May

 What an absolutely shitty day to be out bicycle riding!  There was no sun.......it was cold......it was windy......the beach benches I like to sit at and ponder the world were all taken today.....dammit!

Here it is, 11:14am and I finished the morning mail and set up for today......Of course I had great intentions to write today.....but upon getting ready to do this, my ideas wandered and I lost immediate interest.......

I do have reading to do today - got to stay up on things......and tomorrow I really have to finish the heavy load I set for myself today.....sorry but rather than explain what I have to do today, I'm just going to go ahead and do it......and perhaps, just perhaps, I'll sketch and write in my newest attempt at a diary.......

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. Deja vu - Spring Street

 Once upon a time I spent a whole lot of time downtown - DTLA.   The was before there was even a section of the city known as DTLA.  In the early 60s, as a student in L.A., I had a part time job for an office equipment leasing company that was located on Spring Street, then, the primary business street of Los Angeles.   I took the E Line to 7th Street and then walked past Grand (and Botega Louie) Avenue to Spring Street.  I passed Clifton's Cafeteria - with that picture showing up on my phone but not the computer - and the jewelry district, getting to what was formerly the legal and financial business centre of LA.  Those buildings are now lofts and some of them look quite interesting for a home conveniently located if one works in that area.  I also passed The Last Book Store - not there when I was there but definitely a place worthy of going back to - best used book store I've seen - in the US!!!
