Monday, the 25th!

 Saturday night TianTian and I went to the in-concert performance of Act II of Die Walkurie at the Disney with Dudamel conducting.  We sat in my 'usual' season ticket seat for the 8 Friday morning series for this one.  Then, Sunday, we sat up above, in the terrace section where there was a great, panoramic view of the orchestra and front of the hall but far away from the sub-titles which, fortunately, I really did not need for Act III.  Wonderful music in an acoustically superior venue but where vision is required, there is something lacking......ah well.....I know this opera - I've seen it at least 10 times in my life........and I do hope to see it again.

On Saturday, we did a restaurant in the Emerson, across from the Broad.  I had rack of lamb.  Last night at Fia Steak, walking distance from home in Santa Monica, I had beef Wellington.  Today, Katherine, TianTian and I do a Michelin starred Chinese restaurant in Temple City.  Tomorrow I diet.

7 Baseball

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. Deja vu - Spring Street

 Once upon a time I spent a whole lot of time downtown - DTLA.   The was before there was even a section of the city known as DTLA.  In the early 60s, as a student in L.A., I had a part time job for an office equipment leasing company that was located on Spring Street, then, the primary business street of Los Angeles.   I took the E Line to 7th Street and then walked past Grand (and Botega Louie) Avenue to Spring Street.  I passed Clifton's Cafeteria - with that picture showing up on my phone but not the computer - and the jewelry district, getting to what was formerly the legal and financial business centre of LA.  Those buildings are now lofts and some of them look quite interesting for a home conveniently located if one works in that area.  I also passed The Last Book Store - not there when I was there but definitely a place worthy of going back to - best used book store I've seen - in the US!!!
