Raising Cane!

A national chicken chain has just entered Santa Monica:  Raising Cane, a place that specializes in tender, juicy but firm chicken inside a crispy crust......this is true finger licking stuff.....but not at those prices......or the crowds of kids, wanting to be the first on their block to experience a national chain's debut.......

Today was the final day of classes for the spring semester.....I wonder how long my student Tap card will be active until I have to renew it???

7 Baseball

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. Deja vu - Spring Street

 Once upon a time I spent a whole lot of time downtown - DTLA.   The was before there was even a section of the city known as DTLA.  In the early 60s, as a student in L.A., I had a part time job for an office equipment leasing company that was located on Spring Street, then, the primary business street of Los Angeles.   I took the E Line to 7th Street and then walked past Grand (and Botega Louie) Avenue to Spring Street.  I passed Clifton's Cafeteria - with that picture showing up on my phone but not the computer - and the jewelry district, getting to what was formerly the legal and financial business centre of LA.  Those buildings are now lofts and some of them look quite interesting for a home conveniently located if one works in that area.  I also passed The Last Book Store - not there when I was there but definitely a place worthy of going back to - best used book store I've seen - in the US!!!
