Me and my Fire

 I purchased both the 'larger' Amazon Fire and the keyboard for it early in 2025 but I never really realized its capabilities and what I can use it for until now......and damn, I am beginning to love it!

The screen - it looks like - is 9"x5"  big enough for a split screen (2 pages at a time) viewing of The New Yorker that I can now read for free from the Santa Monica Public Library because I am a member (as well as an author in their catalog).........and hey, while that screen is far too small to read, just a two-finger enlargement makes my having AMD and not being able to read the actual magazine anymore, the solution to continuing to love reading that truly wonderful magazine!!!

And the Fire works as an e-book reader alternative to both Kindle and Kobo, thus, all my reading is now available on one tablet (and a tablet/computer -  this trustworthy, albeit ancient Surface Pro, which will be deskbound, here at home).

On Monday I go to the Geek Squad at Best Buy to get MP4s to run (after I screwed things up by probably pressing the wrong button)

And over time, who knows what I'll find I can do with this thing???!!!!!

7 Baseball

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. It has been awhile.........

 I took both a flu and a covid shot at CVS on Monday, this past week.  I had a reaction on Tuesday and that more or less screwed up my entire week.  Earlier that Monday I sat through my first Valeda session that started with eye testing - each eye both 'clearly' and with dots covering that previously clear line of sight - followed by 4 series of light treatment (2 each with each eye open and 2 with each eye closed...30 sec....90 sec....30 sec....90 sec). That's it - but each is recorded in detail and reported back to the German developers and they build their data base.   So.....what do I think after 3 sessions with 6 more scheduled over the next two weeks that will complete the first of three treatments that will be scheduled this year?  Surprisingly, I actually do see the smaller letters in the eye tests a bit more clearly now than at the start of the week........and I am obviously encouraged by that! Will the world economy tank?

 I think so.  I am half-way through Ray Dalio's new book - truly something both self-indulgent and prophetic based upon some comprehensive research.  I think we are headed for some rough times and quite frankly, some alternative 'diversification' from cash&marketable securities might be called for.  An apartment to invest in?  At the right price and location and with long term potential, this is something to consider............... Consider this:  a discussion on the world economy while munching on the best that 5 Guys has that isn't even on the menu! Ask for a patty melt.  That's a grilled cheese sandwich with a hamburger patty.  Get it loaded:  mustard, ketchup, pickles, relish, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms.  Great sandwich for $10.99!!! Today, though, we will go to Century City where we will bypass Din Tai Fung and go to Panda Express in the food court for orange chicken.
