False and deceptive advertising/marketing on 420-2025

 I forgot the day - ain't no big deal as I've been a user since sometime during the early to mid-60s.  But when the Wheelhose-Venice emails 40% off today, then it is time to take a look.

Take what Wheelhouse wants to push today, remove all the taxes and show the product only price which just happens to be 38% less than what you're going to be charged.  Higher base price?  Then definitely higher taxes.   I thought I had a deal for this month's supply until the bottom line of $208 came up - far more expensive than anticipated.  

The women in charge - I've seen her there over the past year - took an exceptionally cavalier attitude when I asked to use a calculator to add off of the receipt.  When told that 'the best legal and accounting minds have set this up to be 100% valid/legal - sorry you do not understand it.', I got annoyed.....

So then I asked for a refund - something never done there - causing a line of impatient pot-heads, waiting for a cash register where my transaction was happening to close............and I got a cash refund!!!  In full!!!

Well, to put this on a happy ending, I rode my bike over to the Rose Collective where I paid cash (from my refund at Wheelhouse) for this month's supply, half of which was exactly similar to that which I wanted at Wheelhouse!  To be specific, I wanted 3 Raw Garden vape cartridges. This meant 3 separate line items at Wheelhouse.  It turned out that I had a 'buy 2, get an additional 1 for $1' deal at Rose Collective.  The price for the first two was similar....but I got the third for only $1!!!!!

Thus, another 420 has transpired......but for the future, Wheelhouse is no longer on my comparison shopping list

Watching Freddie

 I started early today and while I anticipated a light day, it was 'more involved' than I anticipated.  John Achorn acted his way through chapters 19-22 of Huck Finn.  We discussed the LA Times sponsored Festival of Books at which Percival Everett, author of James, spoke.  For Summer session (8 weeks), we are going to read Raymond Carver short stories.  We were also asked for our input regarding choice of authors for the Fall semester. I got home just as Freddie's class began.  The legions of women watercolor painters who simply adore Freddie Manseau makes his Zoom class quite entertaining.  Freddie is a true character - the extent to which he plays up on this to keep his classes large is open to conjecture but regardless, I am enjoying painting! Deja vu - Spring Street

 Once upon a time I spent a whole lot of time downtown - DTLA.   The was before there was even a section of the city known as DTLA.  In the early 60s, as a student in L.A., I had a part time job for an office equipment leasing company that was located on Spring Street, then, the primary business street of Los Angeles.   I took the E Line to 7th Street and then walked past Grand (and Botega Louie) Avenue to Spring Street.  I passed Clifton's Cafeteria - with that picture showing up on my phone but not the computer - and the jewelry district, getting to what was formerly the legal and financial business centre of LA.  Those buildings are now lofts and some of them look quite interesting for a home conveniently located if one works in that area.  I also passed The Last Book Store - not there when I was there but definitely a place worthy of going back to - best used book store I've seen - in the US!!!
