It's Friday but it feels like Saturday

 Now, without weekend bicycling and after doing Sweet Dreams last night, we stayed in bed later than usual.  Obviously, we got up......I did my morning walk.....got two different chips at Trader Joe's....perused and selectively printed and read this morning's news papers......answered UCLA Health and set up a 29 December follow-up medical appointment......and am now fully involved in procrastinating through the balance of this morning, avoiding responsible tasks that should have been done a couple of days ago.....etc, etc, etc......

And yet......true to the procrastinating spirit of things, yesterday afternoon I started binge reading.  First,  I completed this week's New Yorker for free, off of the Libby app.  Then I completed reading Closing Time, Joseph Heller's 'sequel' to Catch 22, 32 years after the original was published.  Of course it was not close to the original......perhaps I should have read Something Happened instead of Closing Time.......regardless, not only did I complete that yesterday afternoon but then I binge finished Coleson Whitehead's Cool Machine.  I really liked this novel......even more so than the two prize winning novels of his I had already read.

And today.........I'm going to continue with the Kobo Reader (also on my old iPad Mini!!) and put a day into Crown City by Naomi Hirahara, a turn of the prior century immigrant to Pasadena historical fiction crime novel.  Great premise...needs a day to determine if I want to read it further than that......we'll see.....

Monday morning

 How nice to wake up and see sun!  Of course it is still cold out - some May:  only 16C out but if feels lower than that.  Regardless, the morning walk was nice and I do plan to get out more!  Tonight at 5pm there is a free screening of a movie at the Main Campus of Santa Monica College - I will go for this.  Tomorrow is school - and after, perhaps a movie??? I'm going to keep on writing bits and pieces in this blog every day (if possible).  But I am also going to start posting, by hand, in the Moleskin 'hybrid' pad.  That's where I will write that which I don't want to commit to computer..........it'll be far more interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7 Baseball

It is late morning on a wet Saturday as the rains - more than a drizzle but not enough for me to consider taking an umbrella with me were I to go out - have been (more or less) steady since early morning, yesterday.  I'm gonna be indoors all day, today - still in my pajamas - no need to go out.......and our small home is pleasantly, comfortably warm - with a thermal vest atop the pj tops as the central heating keeps our place warm. My life is intertwined with baseball tying so much more than the game into it.  Yeah, 'Baseball is Life'.........I wish I still had that T shirt!  I have been on a baseball odyssey from sometime in September, 1944 when my mother and her sisters Sarah and Faye  and 4 cousins attended Ladies Day at Ebbetts Field where the St Louis Cardinals beat the Brooklyn Dodgers.   Of course I don't remember it!  But it is what I do remember from 18 September 1947 on - far more than just the Dodgers and World Series matters.  I have h...

It has been awhile.........

 I took both a flu and a covid shot at CVS on Monday, this past week.  I had a reaction on Tuesday and that more or less screwed up my entire week.  Earlier that Monday I sat through my first Valeda session that started with eye testing - each eye both 'clearly' and with dots covering that previously clear line of sight - followed by 4 series of light treatment (2 each with each eye open and 2 with each eye closed...30 sec....90 sec....30 sec....90 sec). That's it - but each is recorded in detail and reported back to the German developers and they build their data base.   So.....what do I think after 3 sessions with 6 more scheduled over the next two weeks that will complete the first of three treatments that will be scheduled this year?  Surprisingly, I actually do see the smaller letters in the eye tests a bit more clearly now than at the start of the week........and I am obviously encouraged by that!
